The lines between knowledge management and self management are gone.

Writing in our graphs and vaults leaves behind hidden clues about what’s holding us back and what’s driving us forward.

Don’t believe me?

👇🏻 Do this once.

Manage Self the Way You Manage Knowledge

Step #1: Search your graph for “Semantic Gold Mines” using 2 or 3 of the following:

  • “I want”
  • “I need”
  • “I hope”
  • “I feel”
  • “I can’t”
  • “I will”
  • h/t @Jeanvaljean689& @elaptics for this discovery.

Step #2: Add the following questions to your vault + respond

[[What unexpected insights did you discover about yourself from the Semantic Goldmine exercise?]]

[[How might this revelation change your thinking and/or your actions?]]

Step #3: Implement ONE idea from the second question.

Perhaps it’s a pair of morning or evening questions. You might tweak a daily habit or adopt a set of affirmations. Whatever you think will help you.

Step #4: In 30 days or so, run another Semantic Goldmine search.

This one feature is what sets digital tools apart from old school analog journaling.

Step 5: Note changes.

  • Make note of and celebrate wins.
  • Note areas in which you need to work on.
  • Tweak your remedy.

Step 6: Repeat 🔁

Now you have a system for managing self in a way that nothing outside the Tools for Thought space could ever accomplish with pen and paper.

A final bit of advice: This process is a judgment-free zone.

I know from experience that judging too harshly is a difficult limiting belief to work through.

Difficult, but possible!

You are working a mindset and behavior system of managing self by:

  • Noting
  • Assessing
  • Implementing
  • Iterating
